Nine Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Morocco, accuse Israel of ‘collective punishment’
Intervention of nine Arabs for Gaza on Thursday. In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of nine Arab countries call on the UN Security Council to implement an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, while blaming Israel for “collective punishment” of the Palestinians.
The United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and Morocco criticize Israel for killing civilians in Gaza, claiming that “self-defense does not justify violations of international law and deliberate violation of the legal rights of the Palestinian people.”
They condemn in particular the targeting of civilians and violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza.
The Arab countries typically state that “the right to self-defense does not justify violations of international law and willful neglect of the legal rights of the Palestinian people”.
Against the United States and the European Union put on Thursday by Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the Israeli attacks on Gaza, accusing them of apathy in a speech to the presidential president.
“No one should have to wait of us to remain silent while atrocities are happening before our eyes” explained the Turkish president as broadcast by Manolis Kostidis.
