The UN High Commissioner for Palestine Refugees in the Near East explained that in the past figures coming from the Gaza Strip were considered reliable and “nobody ever really questioned those numbers”.
In a statement that is interpreted as an indirect confirmation of the data reported by the Health Ministry of Hamas for him number of dead in Gaza the UN High Commissioner for Palestine Refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, said today.
When asked about the number of casualties in Gaza and whether the numbers announced by the Hamas Health Ministry are reliable, Lazzarini replied that their own analysis based on the number of their personnel killed concludes that “we have more or less the same percentage”.
He explains that in the past the evidence coming from the Gaza Strip was considered reliable and “no one ever really challenged those numbers.”
In particular, as broadcast by the BBC, Lazzarini explained that a correlation was made by the UNwhich compared the number of personnel they have in Gaza and the number of personnel killed within the population, as well as the total population.
Their analysis concluded, he adds, that “we have more or less the same percentage.”
On Wednesday, Mr President Biden stated that he has “no confidence” in the evidence for him death toll released by Gaza officials.
