“We absolutely reject the slanders and baseless claims of some Israeli officials,” says the Turkish Foreign Ministry
“Slanders and unfounded allegations”, Turkey described what Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations reported, who called Erdogan, a “snake” who never misses an opportunity to express his anti-Semitic anger.
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry states:
We absolutely reject the slander and baseless claims of some Israeli officials.
The efforts of some Israeli officials, who cannot even tolerate the expression of truth and facts, to change the agenda with distortions and slanders, in the hope of covering up the brutal slaughter of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, will not work.
The fact that these authorities, who committed a crime against humanity in front of the whole world, but cannot even tolerate criticism and condemnation, are targeting the United Nations, the UN Secretary General Mr. Antonio Guterres and our President Mr. .Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a sign of their incompetence.
We return in full the accusations of anti-Semitism, slander and insults against our President and our country to their recipients.
It is common knowledge that, unlike many countries that unconditionally support Israel today, Turkey’s track record on this matter is crystal clear and unequivocal.
It is a truth recognized by all historians that Turkey has been a safe haven for all those oppressed throughout history, including the Jews.
We urgently call on the Israeli authorities to heed the calls for a ceasefire and peace in order to end this barbarity which aims to completely destroy the people of Gaza.”
In addition to comments from Israel’s UN ambassador who indirectly called Erdogan a “snake” and Energy Minister Israel Katz said Erdogan showed his “true face” at the pro-Palestinian rally in Istanbul.
Alongside, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources they are also responding ironically to Israel’s foreign minister who said on Saturday that he had ordered all of Israel’s diplomatic representatives to return from Turkey. Specifically, according to what the correspondent of SKAI in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, reports according to the Anadolu agency that “Israeli diplomats are not currently in Turkey. They had already left our country since October 19. In the note they sent to our Ministry on October 18, they stated that in light of the latest developments, the diplomats at the Embassy will leave Turkey from October 19.”
“It is difficult to understand who Cohen instructed to return. Because the diplomats he mentioned in his statement had already left our country,” the sources concluded.
