His prosecutor International Criminal Court Karim Khan was today at the Rafah border crossing on Egypt’s border with the Gaza Strip and posted a video on Platform X, expressing his hope to visit the Palestinian enclave and Israel on this trip to the region.

Karim Khan stressed that the delivery of essential items to citizens should not be hindered in any way.

“There should be no obstacle to the delivery of humanitarian aid to children, women and men, to innocent civilians,” he stressed.

Civilians have rights under international humanitarian law and issues of criminal liability arise when these rights are violated under Rome Statutewhich established the ICC.

The ICC has been investigating the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories since 2021, looking into possible war crimes and crimes against humanity there.

Khan has already declared that the ICC has jurisdiction over potential war crimes committed in both the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel and Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip.
