Russia’s civil aviation agency Rosaviatsia announced that aircraft due to land in Makhachkala would be diverted to other airports
Several dozen men stormed the airport of Makhachkala, the capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan, this evening when it was announced that an aircraft from Israel was due to land there.

Most of the people of Dagestan are Muslims.
According to Russian media Izvestia and RT, several men broke into the airport and climbed onto the roof of the terminal while others entered the runway. Videos posted on the Telegram platform show dozens of people forcing open the gates of the terminal and others trying to control cars leaving the airport.

Russia’s civil aviation agency Rosaviatsia announced that planes due to land in Makhachkala would be diverted to other airports as the one in the Dagestan capital was temporarily closed due to the invasion.
