Cyber ​​war for Gaza… The Israeli military announced Thursday that exposed a network of fake profiles on social media, which aimed to extract information from Israeli military personnel on behalf of Hamas in the midst of it war in the Gaza Strip.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the profiles they came from countries of the so-called “Axis of Resistance”, an informal coalition of anti-Israeli and anti-Western nations and terrorist groups, led by Iran.

Agents used photos of real women in an effort to “fish” for information on behalf of Hamas. It is about the so-called catfishing practice, dating and dating scams through online dating sites, but also on social media or email. Fraudsters usually create fake online profiles.

In fact, the IDF announced that fake profiles with photos of “beautiful women” they had additional fake profiles who pretended to be “parents”, “siblings” and “friends” of Israeli soldiers, in order to “enhance their credibility”.

The network consisted of dozens of fake profiles on social networks, mainly Instagram, and the number of potential victims ranges from hundreds to thousands of military personnel, including reservists.

According to the IDF, Israeli authorities are working with social networking sites to ban the accounts.
