Israel Defense Forces carry out large-scale airstrikes in southern Lebanon in response to rocket attacks on northern Israel earlier.

The IDF says that among the targets so far hit by fighter jets, tanks and artillery are military headquarters, rocket launch sites, weapons storage areas, military compounds and other infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah.

Earlier, the Israeli Defense Forces announced that they were responding to multiple rockets fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory.

“The last hour, there were rocket attacks from Lebanon towards Israeli territorys. In response, the IDF is striking a number of Hezbollah terrorist targets in Lebanon,” the IDF said.

According to a CNN team in northern Israel, the number of rocket attacks from Lebanon has increased in the last hour, with Iron Dome intercepting them.

Several areas have also been put on alert in northern Israel, including Manara, Kiryat Shmona and Safed.

For its part, Hezbollah claims to have simultaneously attacked 19 Israeli military sites along the border with Lebanon with rockets, mortars and other light weapons.

The Israel Defense Forces reported no injuries from the attacks.

Alongside, Hezbollah announced that it had struck an Israeli military barracks in the Shebaa Farms area with two attack drones, claiming they had achieved “a direct hit inside the barracks». Shebaa Farms is disputed territory along the Israel-Lebanon border.

As CNN reports, there was also an exchange of fire along the border area in the last few hours.

In addition to Hezbollah, Hamas’s military wing in Lebanon said Thursday that its forces fired 12 rockets at Kiryat Shmona and its surrounding areas in northern Israel.
