A woman and her three grandchildren, members of the family of a Lebanese journalist, were killed today by an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon, Lebanon’s official news agency (ANI) reported, adding that the journalist was wounded.

The four victims are the sister of the journalist Samir Ayoub, a correspondent of a local radio station, and her three grandchildren who were following the journalist’s car with their vehicle, ANI clarified.

A Hezbollah MP from the region stated that three children and their grandmother were killed when an Israeli bomb hit a car in southern Lebanon, and called the attack a “dangerous development” that could have repercussions.

“The enemy will pay the price for their crimes against civilians,” lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah told Reuters.

He said the children were between 8 and 14 years old. Their mother was injured in the attack on the car as it was moving between the villages of Aynata and Aitarun, near the border with Israel.

When asked about earlier reports from security sources in Lebanon that an Israeli strike killed three people in a car near the village of Ainata, an Israeli army spokesman said the army would issue a statement within the day regarding a strike in Lebanon. .

Four injured by Israeli shelling of two ambulances

Earlier today, four rescuers were injured in southern Lebanon, on the border with Israel, by an Israeli shelling of two ambulances belonging to a local association, the association said and the ANI news agency reported.

The border area between Lebanon and Israel has been the scene of frequent exchanges of fire, mainly between the Israeli army and pro-Iranian Hezbollah since October 7, when war broke out between Israel and Hamas following the Palestinian Islamist movement’s deadly attack on Israeli soil. .

The ANI agency reported that the Israeli raid targeted two ambulances belonging to the Risala Scout Association, which has rescue groups and is linked to the Hezbollah-allied Amal movement.

The association announced for its part that “an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Israeli occupation forces had deliberately targeted the two vehicles causing moderate injuries to the four rescuers who were in the ambulances”. He clarified that the attack took place at dawn when the two ambulances were in the village of Tire Harfa, three kilometers from the border, to transport wounded.

Since October 7, 80 people have been killed on the Lebanese side, according to an AFP tally, including 58 Hezbollah fighters. Six soldiers and one civilian have been killed on the Israeli side, according to authorities.
