Al Guds Hospital in Gaza City curtails most of its activities amid fuel shortages to ensure minimal services in the coming days, the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS) said in a statement today, Wednesday.

“The hospital is experiencing a very severe fuel shortage and was expected to run out of fuel today,” the statement said.

The hospital’s main generator has been turned off and the hospital is running on a small generator, the Palestinian Red Crescent added.

The hospital has closed its surgical ward, MRI and medical imaging, as well as its oxygen production plant, the statement said. Each hospital building now receives two hours of electricity per day after 5 p.m. local time to ensure the 14,000 evacuees housed there have enough power to meet their basic needs.

“It is now impossible for the Palestinian Red Crescent to obtain fuel from the Gaza Strip,” it said. “He hopes Al Quds Hospital will not be forced to close completely in the coming days as fuel and essential supplies run out.”

The Palestinian Red Crescent is urgently appealing to health and aid organizations to allow humanitarian aid, medical supplies and fuel to reach Al Gudz Hospital.
