Seven people were prosecuted after the pro-Palestinian demonstration and the far-right counter-demonstration in London, where more than 140 people were arrested, British police said.
Clashes broke out on Saturday between police and members of far-right groups who had gathered to protest the first demonstration to coincide with Armistice Day, the anniversary of Britain’s First World War commemoration.
London’s Metropolitan Police said investigations were continuing into a number of “other incidents” and that the seven were charged with various offences, including causing property damage, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon, possession of drugs, disorderly conduct due to intoxication and assault.
“Teams of officers are continuing to investigate the cases of those in custody and look into the cases of those identified in the photographs and videos posted on social media websites,” said Deputy Inspector General Lawrence Taylor, who was in charge of police operations in the British capital yesterday. .
