Another departure from SYRIZA. THE Nikos Toskas announced in a post on Facebook that he is leaving the official opposition, fighting against him Stefanou Kasselakis and the choices of the new party leadership.

“The new leadership of SYRIZA does not know the problems and does not express the popular layers because it has never been part of them. He defines “enemies” to find a narrative. He accuses others of elitism to establish itself the absolute elite (…) The current needs of the workers of the popular and middle classes do not need a ka party with a lot of lifestyle and vague principles but a party-”strong ship” that can withstand storms, for the protection of the people of labor and the homeland” the former minister emphasizes, among other things, in his post.

Nikos Toskas was one of the top executives of SYRIZA.

In the elections of January 2015, he was elected as a Member of State with SYRIZA and appointed Deputy Minister of National Defence. He renewed his parliamentary term in the elections of September 2015, this time in the Second District of Athens, and was then appointed Deputy Minister of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction in charge of Citizen Protection issues. In the reshuffle of November 5, 2016, he remained in his position, this time as Deputy Minister of the Interior responsible for Citizen Protection issues.

Mr. Toska’s announcement in detail

I LEAVE AND MOVE ON…

Friends,

I am leaving SYRIZA-P.S. because its leadership team leads the party’s policy in a direction beyond the elementary principles of the Left, the needs of the people and moves in harmony with the dictates of the economic oligarchy.

Communication dominates politics.

The transformation of SYRIZA from a social-democratic-left party to a centrist party is ongoing.

Confusion reigns.

The new leadership of SYRIZA does not know the problems and does not express the popular strata because it has never been part of them.

He defines “enemies” to find a narrative.

She accuses others of elitism in order to establish the ultimate elite herself.

He speaks directly to the grassroots to bypass grassroots interests.

Her “supporters” give orders to people with a history of struggle and sacrifice. The lack of respect is evident.

In the current crisis of SYRIZA, the fight must be fought OUTSIDE SYRIZA. If only for reasons of dignity. And dignity is a driving force in racing.

History was not written in this place in bank offices or multinational offices. It was written in places of sacrifice, blood fights and places of work with sweat and toil.

Today’s needs of the workers of the popular and middle classes do not need a party with a lot of life style and vague principles but a party-“strong ship” that can withstand the storms, to protect the people of the labor and the country.

It needs a party rooted in popular needs so that workers have a reason to fight with it.

History does not return to the age of emperors. The racing season is upon us.

THAT’S WHY I’M GIVING UP AND MOVING ON…

I thank Alexis Tsipras for assigning me responsible roles and those we worked with in an effort to improve intermediate goals.

Nikos Toskas
