In the northern part of the Gaza Strip now only one hospital remained which is still accepting patients due to clashes between Israel and Hamas and fuel shortages, the UN said overnight. Al Shifa, the largest hospital in northern Gaza was captured by Israeli forces.

Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza City is still operating, but at the very least of his ability, pointed out the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Ocha).

Ocha added that all remaining hospitals in the northern part of the Palestinian enclave have ceased to function due to the lack of electricity, medical supplies, oxygen, water and food.

The situation is exacerbated by shelling and clashes in the region, the UN agency said. Currently at Al Ahli Hospital there are 500 patients.

The situation in hospitals across the Gaza Strip, which were already stretched to their limits, has deteriorated dramatically in recent days. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 22 of the enclave’s 36 hospitals have stopped functioning.

The remaining 14 are barely in position to care for patients, including those in the intensive care unit, WHO said.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they found Hamas weapons and assets inside Al Shifa Hospital, a fact that indicates the presence of the terrorist group in it.

They do not exist clues to hostages currently being held in Sifabut the Israeli military believes that information about the captives may be found in the operation.
