At least 27 people were killed and 93 others were injured in an “Israeli strike” at a school run by UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) in Jabaliya, AFP reports citing a doctor – who wished to remain anonymous – at Al Awda Hospital in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

AFP emphasizes that it is unable to verify the report, while so far there is no reaction from a representative of the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF).

The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) also reported the specific attack on the Jambaliya school a little earlier, which reports that hundreds of displaced persons had found refuge there.

Jambaliya is home to the largest refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

According to the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA), nearly one million displaced people have sought refuge in 156 schools and structures to escape the incessant Israeli shelling since the war began on October 7.
