Qatar’s foreign ministry announced that 39 women and children held in Israeli prisons were released.

Earlier, tension erupted outside Israel’s Ofer military prison in the occupied West Bank, where 39 Palestinian prisoners were expected to be released.

Hundreds of Palestinians waited on the West Bank side of the Beituniyah crossing for the return of the prisoners.

Tensions flared, as reported by Sky News, after Israeli forces moved to push back the crowd with tear gas and stun grenades.

Under the deal, Israel had announced it would release a total of 39 Palestinian prisoners, 24 women, including some convicted of attempted murder for attacks on Israeli forces, and 15 teenagers jailed for offenses such as throwing stones, Palestinian authorities said.
