Two hundred trucks carrying humanitarian aid are entering the Gaza Strip, with some of the supplies set to reach the northern part of the enclave for the first time since the start of the war, the Times of Israel reports.

Over fifty of the trucks are destined for the northern Gaza Strip, including areas that have not been evacuated, with Israel’s approval, says the Coordinator for Governmental Activities in the Territories (COGAT).

Before starting their ground operation, the Israel Defense Forces asked Palestinian civilians to use humanitarian corridors to evacuate south to designated safe areas in the enclave.

Aid is entering the Strip as part of a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas brokered by Egypt and Qatar.

As part of the deal, about 50 children and women held hostage in Gaza are released, along with three Palestinian prisoners for every Israeli freed.
