Israel says Hamas is blocking humanitarian aid from entering the northern Gaza Strip, releasing footage of a checkpoint it says was set up by the Palestinian armed group.

“This happened about an hour ago on the road leading to the northern Gaza Strip,” writes the Coordinator of Governmental Activities in the Territories (COGAT) in a post on X.

“A Hamas checkpoint blocked trucks delivering humanitarian aid to residents of northern Gaza,” says COGAT. “For Hamas, the people of Gaza are their last priority,” COGAT said in its post.
Earlier, COGAT announced that 200 aid trucks had entered Gaza, with some destined for the northern part of the enclave.

Aid, including food, water and medical supplies, is entering the Strip as part of a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas brokered by Egypt and Qatar.
