In 2002, Senegal’s first great team lost the African Cup of Nations title to Cameroon on penalties.
In 2019, Santo Mane’s team had lost to Algeria. This year, however, the team of Pape Cisse of Olympiacos (stayed on the bench) finally celebrated the title, prevailing 4-2 over Egypt on penalties after 0-0 in regular time and extra time!

The match started with the best omens for the Senegalese, as just in the 4th minute Abdelmonem overthrew Siss in the area and gave the typical home team the opportunity to score with a penalty.
However, Mane saw Gabaski fall correctly and block his execution, with the 0-0 not changing.
Senegal continued to threaten with shots by Shar, but they did not find recipients in the area, with Salah’s team on the other hand having difficulty and being limited to a passive role in the match.
In the 50th minute, Gabaski took a shot by Gage, with Diediu not being able to score from close range three minutes later.
The Egyptians threatened in 69 ‘, when Abdelmonem had an out header, while Hamdi’s header had a similar ending in 75’.
No goal was scored in the end and both teams were led to extra time.
Gabaski said “no” three times to Dieng’s efforts in 92 ‘, 100’ and 115 ‘, with Medi imitating him in a shot by Hamdi in 117’.
Finally, the cup was judged on penalties. Medi and Gabaski counted from one operation, however Abdelmonem’s execution ended up on the crossbar for the seven-time champions, the Egyptians. Mane was the one who took over the execution of the fifth penalty of the Senegalese, with the Liverpool star scoring and sending his compatriots to heaven.
