Russia uses many different tools to pressure neighbors such as energy and cyber attacks, NATO chief says
Jens Stoltenberg spoke of Moscow’s attempt to put pressure on its neighbors and NATO allies through immigration when asked about Finland’s decision to close its border with Russia.
The NATO Secretary General noted that “the fact that now Russia is using migration as a tool is yet another example of trying to put pressure on its neighbors, NATO allies. They will not succeed because we are together, we support each other and I welcome FRONTEX’s decision to support and help Finland. There is no demand for an increased NATO presence, border control is something that the allies do themselves.” He also said that Russia uses many different tools to put pressure on its neighbors. “We’ve seen them use energy, we’ve seen them use cyber attacks, different types of covert operations trying to undermine our democracies,” Mr. Stoltenberg added.
