The National Security Council of Turkey met today under the chairmanship of Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the main subject of the developments in Gaza and the Caucasus.

In the statement issued after the Council meeting, it is stated that “Israel will sooner or later face the consequences of the inhumane crimes it committed in Gaza, which are recorded in History as a stain.”

There is also talk of a collective responsibility of the international community to stop without delay the attacks aimed at exterminating innocent citizens and the occupation of the territories of Gaza, and it is underlined that “Turkey will continue to undertake all kinds of initiatives in this direction”.

The Turkish National Security Council points out to Israel and all those who support it that “if the heinous acts are not stopped immediately, they may trigger a cycle of violence, the effects of which will last for many generations and may spread beyond the region and it is recalled that a lasting peace can only be achieved through the creation of an independent, sovereign and geographically unified Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.”

Regarding the developments in the Caucasus, “the conclusion of the negotiations on the agreement of a sustainable peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the normalization of our relations with Armenia in this context were evaluated, while the efforts of actors outside the region to intervene in the issue were also evaluated ».
