The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov criticized him again today in no uncertain terms Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and expressed his “indifference” to his fate from the floor of the annual meeting of the organization in question, which he nevertheless sought to participate in.

Russia is one of the 57 members of this organization, which was created in 1975 to facilitate dialogue between East and West and is going through the most serious crisis in its history after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“We are sure that our Western colleagues have not learned any lesson from their destructive policy aimed at disbanding the OSCE,” said Sergey Lavrov from Skopje, where the organization’s 30th cabinet meeting has been taking place since yesterday, Thursday. “In Europe, we continue – with a persistence that could be put to better use – to complete the organization.”

In a room full of journalists, Lavrov declared that “the organization has been transformed into something whose future is nothing but indifference.”

Lavrov’s presence in Skopje prompted countries to boycott the meeting – Ukraine, the Baltic states and Poland. The other participants, in their vast majority, used their speeches to rail against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is a hubris” towards the values of the OSCE, said the OSCE chairman, Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Buhar Osmani, opening the discussions.

Dozens of condemnations followed, all of which Sergey Lavrov did not hear as he repeatedly walked out of the room.

“I don’t care about the results of this OSCE meeting”said the Russian Foreign Minister during the press conference he gave.
