As the IDF’s military operation expands into southern Gaza, the director of Israel’s powerful internal security service, of Sin Bet, Ronen Barr (right in the photo with Netanyahu) declares that Israel he will go after Hamas in Lebanon, Turkey and Qatar even if it takes years.

“The country’s cabinet has set as aimed at eliminating Hamas and its leaders,” he stressed, in a recording played on public television.

“This is our Munich (s.p. the so-called Munich Massacre took place during the 1972 Summer Olympics). We will do this everywhere – in Gaza, in the Palestinian territories, in Lebanon, in Turkey and in Qatar. It will take us a few years, but we will be there to do it“, said Barr characteristically.

The head of Sinn Bet was also heard expressing his belief that the organization (Sinn Bet) was “on the rise” and “we learn our lessons from the events and we are already transferring them to other situations, not only in the Gaza Strip.”

Barr noted that “the range of threats facing the state of Israel is unprecedented in the last year, even before these events.”

“Even so, the major issue is not apparent… They exist many things beneath the surface” he stated enigmatically.

THE “Operation Wrath of God”

It is noted that after the murder of 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team in 1972 in Munich, by the Palestinian team of black september Israel responded by carrying out targeted operations to kill the perpetrators for many years and in many countries.

It is “Operation Wrath of God” (English: Operation Wrath of God‎, or Operation Bayonet (Hebrew: מצעע זעם האל‎) the code name of a covert operation carried out by the Mossad to kill people believed to be involved in Munich massacre. The targets were members of the Palestinian militant group Black September and officials of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

With authorization from the Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir in the fall of 1972, the operation was believed to have continued for more than 20 years. While the Mossad killed several prominent Palestinians during the operation, it never managed to kill the mastermind behind Munich, namely Abu Dawood. The operation was depicted in the TV movie Sword of Gideon (1986) and the Steven Spielberg film Munich (2005).
