The Israeli army denied that it demanded that the World Health Organization (WHO) vacate within 24 hours a warehouse with medical material in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

“The truth is that we did not ask for warehouses to be evacuated and we stated this clearly and in writing to the relevant UN officials,” the Israeli Defense Ministry’s body responsible for overseeing political activities in the Palestinian territories (COGAT) said.

It was preceded by a post by the head of the Organization on the X platform (formerly Twitter), in which he announced that the Israeli army had called on him to vacate, within 24 hours, a warehouse with medical aid in the southern part of the Gaza Strip “as the ground operations would render it useless”.

“We call on Israel to withdraw this order and take all possible measures to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and humanitarian aid facilities,” WHO director-general Tedros said in his post. Andanom Gebregesus.
