Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif reported today that his 65-year-old father was killed by an Israeli airstrike in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

As the journalist said, he had removed the rest of his family members from the house, in which 65-year-old Jamal had remained due to health problems he was facing.

“We buried my father outside an UNRWA school where many displaced people have taken refuge,” said Anas al-Sharif, stressing that he will not stop covering developments in the war Gaza.

He is the fourth Al Jazeera journalist to lose a family member since the start of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip on October 7.

In a statement, Al Jazeera’s management condemned the bombing of the house in Jabalia, noting that the journalist had received repeated threats in recent weeks. “We call on the international community to take urgent measures to stop the massacres of journalists and civilians in Gaza by the occupation army,” he underlines.
