Heavy fighting rages across Gaza Strip – Pressure mounts for ceasefire after mistaken killing of three Israeli hostages
A new resolution for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is being called todayMonday to discuss the UN Security Council, ten days after the US veto was put in a previous vote.
The new draft decision calls to proclaim “immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities” in the besieged enclave.
Note that, this process comes at a time when Washington has begun to put pressure on Israel against the backdrop of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Fierce fighting continues in Gaza
The same time, heavy fighting continues throughout the Gaza Strip. yesterday sunday there have been deadly Israeli airstrikes from north to south while the Jabaliya camp has been targeted again where according to local health officials, at least 90 people were killed.
Israel maintains for its part that it makes every effort to avoid hitting civilians however, last Friday’s botched killing of three Israeli hostages while holding a white flag intensified international and domestic pressure for a new ceasefire deal that could free some of the 120 remaining hostages believed to be still being held captive in Gaza by Hamas.
The Health Ministry of Hamas in the Gaza Strip announced today that 110 Palestinians killed by yesterday’s Israeli strikes in Jambaliya.
In a brief announcement, the Ministry of Health said that of the blows there were “50 witnesses in houses in Jabalia”, raising to 110 the number of dead since Sunday in this city. The most recent report of the ministry, announced on Friday, spoke of 18,800 deaths since the start of the war with Israel on October 7.
