The Spanish police did not want to comment on the incidents
Email messages warning of a bomb were received by several international schools — French and British — in Spain, prompting the suspension of classes there, the educational institutions themselves said.
“We received an email yesterday (Sunday) evening at 23:00 (local time, 01:00 this morning Greek time) in which there was a bomb warning. We have informed the police as well as the French embassy in Spain. Until the authorities leave (the school site), the school will not function,” Noel Hegu, director of the Moliere French school in Tharagota, pointed out this morning.
This morning school, which has 1,000 students, did not open at its usual time as fireworks were “on the way”he added.
Jules Verne French School of Tenerife, in the archipelago of the Canary Islands, also received a warning of a similar threat last night, according to Julien Lepani, director of the municipality, who, however, did not provide further details.
Parents of students at St Georges British School in Madrid received a message informing them that the school would open late in the morning after “an email was received during the night stating that a bomb had been planted”.
The school management pointed out in its message that “the same warning was sent to many schools in Madrid today” and “police believe this is a series of false alarms.”
The previous week the British school Kensington had also received “email threats,” the address noted.
The police of Spain he has not wanted to comment on the incidents.
In France, there have been warnings for months about placing a bomb in airports, train stations but also mainly in schools: in mid-November the French Ministry of Education pointed out that 788 warnings of bomb placement in schools have been recorded since the start of the school year.
