On January 3rd “Sumi” will be 54 years old – On 12/29 it will be 10 years since the terrible skiing accident he had
The tenth anniversary of the serious skiing accident in Meribel that changed Michael Schumacher’s life forever (Michael Schumacher), approaching (12/29). Ten years later, with almost total silence and little official information about his health status – Willie Weber has declared that he no longer has hope for Michael.
Weber was the man who helped “Sumi” reach Formula 1 and who became his manager. In previous years he was updating on the condition of the legendary seven-time world champion, but he slowly drifted away.
Now, as he himself admits, Corina, Schumacher’s wife, does not allow him to visit his former student. However, Weber is still aware of many issues related to the former German pilot:
“Unfortunately, when I think of Michael now, I have no hope of ever seeing him again,” he told Express. “There is no positive news after ten years,” he added.
Weber still considers himself a friend of the seven-time champion, but is hurt at himself for not going to Grenoble to the hospital where he was admitted after his incident in France: “Of course, I’m very sorry and I blame myself for that. I should visit Michael in the hospital. His accident had a very strong impact on me, you can imagine. Of course, also the fact that Corinna wouldn’t allow me any more contact. But at some point I had to break free from Michael, separate,” she confessed.
“Even three or four years later, people who recognized me still asked me: ‘You’re Schumacher’s former manager. How is Michael?’
During this time, Weber even wrote a book about his experiences, titled “Gasoline in the Blood.”
In it he tells how he managed the German’s affairs. Because of this, he is now critical of what he experienced with Mick, Michael’s son. “I think Michael really wanted to take him into Formula 1 and manage him the way I managed him.”
