A large demonstration of agricultural producers took place today in Berlin, at the Brandenburg Gate.

Thousands of farmers with their tractors flooded the German capital, responding to the call of the German Farmers’ Union.

Farmers are protesting the coalition government’s plans to scrap the oil subsidy and farm vehicle tax exemption.

The union is calling on the government to withdraw its plans or there will be “massive resistance” from January. “We will not tolerate it,” said farmers’ president Joachim Ruckvid.
