Bad weather on Friday, when snow mixed with rain, underlined the heavy atmosphere in the village Kladensko with 1,400 inhabitants. It’s hard for people here to come to terms with the fact that the Philosopher’s Killer is from here. That thence he brought the armory to the School, with which he evidently planned to commit still greater atrocities. Fortunately, the Czech police stopped him from going on a bigger rampage. He also announced that the 24-year-old transported the weapons by public means of transport. “David and I went to Prague by bus three times a week. Lately he’s been carrying a guitar case, but there’s never been any talk of him playing anything. It was strange to me,” a woman from the village told Bleska newspaper.

“He was a good boy…”

The people of the surrounding area are also shocked because they didn’t expect anything like this by an excellent student. “They were a quiet, respectable family. They lived more for themselves, especially David’s father, Stanislav. His mother and sister were always kind and pleasant, he himself was a good boy” they agree. “They cared what would become of David. The father had him close, he wanted him responsible and diligent, no parties or girls, he had to study” said one of the nearby neighbors. “It’s scary” they noted.

By chance, David’s mother escaped

According to acquaintances, Romana K. had planned to prepare her house for Christmas, but she had to go to work urgently. “That probably saved her life,” the neighbors comment. Where David’s sister was at the time and if she is still living with her family, no one could confirm. Yesterday the student’s mother was able to return home with a police escort. According to Blesk, the family of the attacker is receiving threats, so the police are taking care of their safety. A source close to the family mentions the mother as another victim. “It is located inin a very bad condition under the supervision of psychologists, she has been given sedatives, she is completely distraught and has broken down,” a source told Blesk. People also started placing candles in front of the family’s home yesterday. “An innocent person died here too,” remarked one of the women, explaining that she put the candle there for Father Stanislav.
