The jihadist organization Islamic state took responsibility today Thursday for the two explosions that killed them at least 84 people and wounding dozens in Kerman, Iran.

A ceremony was held in Kerman in memory of the commander Kasem Soleimani, who was killed by a US drone in 2020.

The jihadist organization posted a statement on its Telegram accounts.

Through its Telegram accounts, the jihadist organization said that two of its members “detonated their belt with explosives” in the middle of “a large gathering of ‘renegades’ near the tomb of their leader Qassem Soleimani yesterday in Kerman. in southern Iran”.

The self-proclaimed Islamic State has enlisted this operation as part of a campaign it has named “Kill them wherever you find them,” according to the announcement.

Minutes before claiming responsibility, the jihadist organization released a recorded message in the voice of its spokesman, confirming that this campaign was carried out “in support of Muslims wherever they are, especially in Palestine.”

Measures to boost security along its borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan Iran said it was taking, in a first indication that it suspected Wednesday’s attack was the work of Islamic State.

The border closure suggests Iran believes the attack may have begun from Islamic State – Khorasan Province, a Sunni group operating mainly in Afghanistan that blames Soleimani for inflicting heavy damage on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
