A remote-controlled, unmanned floating vessel packed with explosives exploded in the Red Sea on Thursday, but it was not close enough to US warships or commercial vessels. so as to cause casualties or damage, announced a US Navy commander, referring to a “failed attack” by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

Rear Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of US naval forces in the Middle East, told reporters that 25 attacks have now been recorded by the Houthis against merchant ships plying the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. “There is no sign that their irresponsible behavior is abating,” he pointed out.

Of the floating drone attack, Cooper said: “It was spotted within about two miles of the ships in the area – merchant and US Navy ships – and we all saw it when it exploded.”

The US Navy clarified that there are no marines deployed on commercial vessels sailing in the Red Sea for their safety.

twelve nations, led by the United States, they jointly warned the Houthi rebels on Wednesday for “unspecified consequences”, unless they stop attacks on Red Sea ships.

“Let our message now be clear: we demand an immediate end to these illegal attacks and the release of the illegally seized ships and crews”says the joint statement – ultimatum released by the White House.
