A dog from North Dakota, in debt his life in the cat of the family who chased off two coyotes that had attacked him on December 1st.

The dramatic rescue was caught on the family’s outdoor surveillance camera. Lane Dyer, the homeowner, shared the footage and remarkable story with Fox News Digital.

On the night of the incident, Dyer said he had just let the family’s small dog, Oakley, outside while taking care of two other dogs inside the home. The dog stayed out of the house, only for a moment when the family heard some commotion.

“Oakley climbed into the house and ran upstairs,” Dyer said during a phone interview with Fox News Digital. “She had been cut on her chest and side and was bleeding profusely.” Dyer’s wife wrapped Oakley, applied pressure to the wounds and rushed her to the emergency vet.

Security camera footage showed the cat running outside to scare off the coyotes. “We had no idea what happened. He knew exactly what was happening – without any hesitation, he acted,” Dyer said, adding: “Never in a million years would I have expected a cat to do that.”

For the record, Binx was a stray cat who started visiting the Dyers’ yard when she was just a few weeks old.
