The tanker is at Bandar Abass berth in Iran – Latest announcement from the ship’s management company
Be healthy and safe are the 19 crew members (18 Filipinos and one Greek) of the Greek-owned tanker SAINT NICHOLAS at anchor of Bandar Abbas in Iran.
As reported in its newest announcement by the ship’s management company Empire Navigation, the local representative of its insurance company (P&I Club), contacted the Iranian authorities and the sailors – members of the crew of the Marshall Islands flag tanker, are in good health and safe.
It is recalled that the company has not reestablished direct communication with ST. NICHOLAS from the time of its occupation, on January 11. Since then, all satellite the ship’s communication systems are disabled.
The company points out again that its main concern and highest priority is and will remain the safety of the crew.
He states that in this context and actively supporting the families of the captured sailors, Empire Navigation implemented a mental health and psychological support service, which is staffed by specialized professionals.
This service will continue to be offered to the families until the sailors are released – and of course will be offered to them after their return and for as long as the experts deem appropriate.
The ship had loaded in the previous days in Basra (Iraq), a load of approx 145,000 metric tons of crude oil bound for Aliaga (Turkey), via the Suez Canal. The charterer of the ship is the company Tupras.
Empire Navigation, as the vessel’s management company, informed all the competent Greek and international authorities from the very beginning and continues to be in close and uninterrupted cooperation with them, as well as with the families of the crew members
