Among the thousands of demonstrators, Chancellor Olaf Solz and Minister Analena Burbock, among other politicians, were “present”.
More than 25,000 people demonstrated earlier this evening against the Alternative for Germany (AfD) at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, expressing their anger after it was revealed that last November party officials met with representatives of neo-Nazi organizations to discuss the “strategic plan » forcibly expelling at least two million immigrants. Similar demonstrations were held in other cities, while in Potsdam, their constituency, Chancellor Olaf Solz and Minister Analena Burbock attended.
According to the police, “several thousand” people took part in the rally. The prevailing slogans were “Defense Democracy”, “It’s time to defend democracy” and “Stop the arsonists, stop the AfD”. Mrs Burbock, speaking at the Potsdam rally, said: “I stand here as one of the thousands of Potsdamers defending democracy against old and new fascism.”
All parliamentary parties except the AfD were represented at the rallies.
