Michelle Obama turns 60 this Wednesday (17). The former First Lady of the United States did not allow herself to be overshadowed by her husband’s governance of the country’s highest political post, and she became a popular figure outside of office as well.
Miche, as she has revealed that she is called by the people she is close to, does not leave the spotlight even almost seven years after leaving the White House in 2017. She goes on television shows, released an autobiography and invests in the film industry. She does it and it happens, she is charismatic, uninhibited and has a sense of humor. Of her 60 years, 31 of them were married to Obama, and the couple made history by becoming the first (and so far, only) black presidential couple to govern the United States.
Before meeting Obama, she was Michelle LaVaughn Robinson. Born and raised in Chicago, she received her sociology degree from Princeton and her law degree from Harvard, two of the most prestigious institutions of higher education in the country. When she returned to her hometown, she met Barack Obama, became his tutor at a law firm and the two started dating, in a love story that began after a screening of the film “Do the Right Thing”, by Spike Lee.
