Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged during a press conference earlier today in Tel Aviv that he would do everything possible to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He even publicly admitted that Israel is launching attacks against Iran.
Asked by a reporter why Israel is content to attack Iran’s proxies instead of attacking Iran directly, Netanyahu replied: “Who said we are not attacking Iran? We are attacking Iran.”
He likened Iran to an octopus that has spread its tentacles across the wider Middle East, naming Yemen’s Houthis, Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Palestine’s Hamas.
Noting that Iran wants to destroy Israel, Netanyahu said: “Imagine if Iran does all this now, while it does not have nuclear weapons, how critical it is to prevent it from getting nuclear weapons.”
During his days in power, Israel’s prime minister claimed to have delayed Iran’s nuclear program by at least a decade, adding that more could be done in that direction, but did not elaborate.
“I am obligated as Prime Minister of Israel to not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, not only for our own safety and existence, but for the protection of the entire world.”
