A charge of crimes against humanity over the war in Gaza has been filed against Israeli President Isaac Herzog while he is at the Davos Forum, the Swiss Prosecutor’s Office said, according to a report in the Times of Israel.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office (BA) confirms that it has received a lawsuit against the Israeli president, who was in annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday to discuss the Gaza war.

Criminal complaints will now be dealt with in accordance with the normal procedure“, the Prosecutor’s Office says in a statement, adding that it is in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “to examine the issue of the immunity of the person concerned”.

It does not say specifically what the complaints werenor who submitted them.

However, a statement allegedly issued by the people behind the complainttitled “Legal Action Against Crimes Against Humanity,” obtained by AFP, says anonymous complaints have been filed by several people, with federal prosecutors and authorities in Basel, Bern and Zurich.

The statement says the plaintiffs are seeking criminal prosecution alongside the case before the UN International Court of Justice from South Africa, which accuses Israel of genocide in the war in Gauze.

Regarding the issue of immunity, the statement states that it could be removed “in some cases”including cases of alleged crimes against humanity, adding that “these conditions are met in this case.”
