Almost 9,000 people participated today on Brussels at a demonstration demanding an end to Israeli bombardment in Gauzeaccording to local police.

The foreign ministers of the EU countries are to meet tomorrow Monday, separately, with their counterparts from Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Israel Katz and Riyadh al-Maliki, discussing ways to end the violence in Gaza. The foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan as well as the secretary general of the Arab League, Ahmed Abul Yate, are also expected in Brussels for a working lunch with their European counterparts.

At today’s demonstration, under a banner reading “Justice for Palestine”, those gathered chanted slogans such as “Stop the genocide”, “Israel is a terrorist” and “Free Gaza”. Some criticized the EU for its “shameful failure to protect Palestinian civilians”, others called for a boycott of Israeli products and businesses.

“We really need to unite against the genocide being committed in Gaza and fight for the end of the Israeli occupation,” said one protester, Victor Dimon.

“No people deserve something like this, either from one side or the other,” she commented Bahija Dur.
