Just one day after completing her passage storm Isa, UK is today experiencing the momentum of a new storm.
Storm Jocelyn is the tenth to be named by the Met Office since September due to its potential to disrupt the daily lives of citizens.
From the morning it mainly affects western Britain, as well as Ireland. Initially there will be rain, while from the evening mainly in the northern half of the territory of the United Kingdom there will be strong winds that may approach 130 kilometers per hour.
These are less severe than the 100 mph winds of Storm Isa, but authorities are again warning of the risk of damage and injuries.
Yellow weather warnings for wind and rain are in place until Wednesday morning, as well as a more severe orange warning for northern and western Scotland.
Once again, the biggest problems are expected in the railway network. Companies have announced that the last services from the north of England to Scotland will be operated in the afternoon due to strong winds and heavy rain.
The traveling public is advised to avoid traveling by train north of Preston and Newcastle from 3.30pm local time. There will also be speed restrictions for the wires due to the winds.
Storm Isa’s winds left behind swept away fences, building roofs, trees and scaffolding, causing significant road and rail disruption.
An 84-year-old man died in Scotland when the vehicle he was traveling in was crushed by a tree.
As of Monday night, however, nearly 20,000 households remained without power in Northern Ireland and northwest England.
