The Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi is going to Ankara tomorrow, Wednesdayafter two postponements of his visit, to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogana Turkish diplomatic source told AFP today.

The official Iranian news agency IRNA also announced the visit to Turkey by the Iranian head of statewhich was already announced in late November and then in early January following a twin attack that claimed the lives of 89 people and was claimed by the Islamic State group.

According to analysts, the two leaders will hold talks on the war between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas and for the means to prevent its expansion, at a time when tensions are rising in the Middle East.

Blaming Israel, President Raisi vowed on Saturday to avenge the deaths of five Iranians, members of the Revolutionary Guards, who were killed in a strike in Syria.

It is also expected that the two presidents will discuss bilateral issuesincluding Turkish-Iranian trade relations and the opening of a new border crossing between the two neighboring countries.

On this first visit to Turkey, Raisi will be accompanied by a “high-level political and economic delegation”underlines the IRNA agency.
