United States prosecutors are demanding the harshest punishment yet for participants in the January 6 deadly attack on the Capitol, and are asking judges to use as an example a man filmed punching a police officer and another who stormed the Senate floor wearing a headdress. with horns.

At a hearing on Wednesday, prosecutors will ask a judge to impose a 44-month prison sentence on Scott Fairlamb, a former mixed martial arts fighter from New Jersey who pleaded guilty in August to assaulting a police officer. .
