Seven people died on Sunday when the small plane they were traveling in crashed in a rural area of ​​the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, in the southeastern part of the giant country, authorities said.

The single-engine plane, which had departed from Cabinas in Sao Paulo, crashed after disintegrating mid-flight at around 10:30 (local time; 15:30 Greek time) near the city of Itapeva, the AFP reported. fire department of Minas Gerais.

“Seven people (on board the plane) were found dead,” according to the fire department, which initially reported that three bodies had been found in the wreckage.

Residents captured footage of the plane’s wreckage shortly after it crashed on a hill covered in trees and other vegetation, which was circulated on social media and in the media.
