The anger of Australia’s youngest MP, Georgie Purcell, was caused by an Australian news channel after it “teased” her photo, causing her breasts to swell and her blouse to be zoomed in so that part of her stomach was visible.

According to the BBC, her picture appeared on the Nine News newscast after she intervened after criticizing the Victorian government’s decision not to ban duck hunting.

The MP posted the original photo and the modified one on social media, wanting to show how the channel had edited her outfit.

Nine News apologized and claimed it was her fault “automation from photoshop”.

In a statement, she said Monday was the worst day she had endured since her election in 2022.

“It’s not unusual for politicians to have disastrous days at work… Unfortunately, the difference for women is that they also have to deal with constant sexualisation and objectification,” the Animal Justice Party MP said.

Responding to the backlash, Nine News Melbourne boss Hugh Nailon said he apologized “unreservedly” to Georgie Purcell for the “clerical error”.

“As is common practice, the image has been resized to fit our specifications. During this process, the automation from Photoshop created an image that was inconsistent with the original,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

“This did not meet the high editorial standards we have,” he added.

Georgie Purcell hit the headlines last year for wearing to parliament an outfit covered with examples of the sexist abuse she regularly receives online. She has previously spoken about working as a stripper to support herself during law school.
