A judge has refused British nurse Lucy Letby, who was found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six others, to appeal her conviction, a judicial spokesman said today.

Letby was found guilty last year of killing five baby boys and two baby girls in the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in northern England over a 13-month period from 2015, where injected the infants with insulin or just air or force-fed them milk.

The 34-year-old, Britain’s worst serial killer of children in modern history, was jailed for life without the possibility of parole, but she appealed in September.

A request by Lucy Letby to appeal her conviction has been rejected by a judge who reviewed the case file“, said the judicial representative.

Letby has 14 days to resubmit her appeal and if she does, a three-judge court hearing will be held to decide whether to allow the appeal to go ahead, the spokesman added.
