Despite the intensification of the bilateral dialogue, relations between Moscow and Washington are “on the floor,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov told Russia’s RIA news agency amid a Russia-West crisis over Ukraine.
The United States warned Sunday that Russia could invade Ukraine at any time and may inadvertently invent a pretext for an attack, and reiterated its commitment to defending “every inch” of NATO territory.
Peshkov said that there are some channels of dialogue and described as positive the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden are in contact, but bilateral relations in other areas are tense.
“The heads of state are talking, there is dialogue on other fronts,” RIA quoted Peshkov as saying. “This is positive because you know just two years ago there was no dialogue, there were no such contacts.”
“But in the rest, unfortunately, in bilateral relations we can only talk about negatives. We are at a very low point. In fact (the relations) are on the floor “.
