In recent months, Ukraine has increased its attacks on Russia, but they are generally focused on border regions
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that it crashed overnight and this morning 11 Ukrainian drones (drones) in Russian areas bordering Ukraine.
“At night, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with drones against locations on Russian territory was prevented,” the ministry said in a statement it issued.
“Air defense intercepted and destroyed drones over the territory of the Belgorod region (four drones) and Kursk (one drone),” he clarifies.
Around 05:30 Greek time, another four Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region and two drones were shot down over the Voronezh region, according to the same source.
In recent months, Ukraine has increased its attacks on Russia, but it is generally concentrated in border regions, such as that of Belgorod.
On December 30, Belgorod, the capital of the region of the same name, was hit by the deadliest attack on Russian soil since Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Twenty-five people died, around 100 were injured and hundreds were displaced from their homes.
