In the last 24 hours in Italy the number of coronavirus cases is 28,630, while 281 people lost their lives due to complications of Covid-19.
The diagnostic tests, however, were 283,891, of which 10.1% were positive.
In the intensive care units (ICU) the patients with Covid-19 are 1,173, (ie 7 less than yesterday Sunday), while in the hospital wards it is 16,050 (10 less compared to the previous 24 hours).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 12,134,451 people have been infected in Italy and 151,296 have died. At this stage, there are 1,590,615 positive for the virus.
Italian government sources say the state of emergency declared two years ago is likely to end in late March.
Undersecretary of Health Pierpaolo Sileri, however, stressed that the green passport of a vaccinated person will not be “retired”. What can be decided, he explained, is a “partial review of services, shops and public spaces where the pass will continue to be a prerequisite for citizens’ access.”
