Iran’s oldest woman has died at the age of 125according to her identity information broadcast today by state television, without however her age record being recognized by Guinness World Records.
Born on September 23, 1898, Masumeh Sanei Toroghi died yesterday in Mashhad in northeastern Iran, TV reported, posting a photo of her ID.
Based on these figures, Toroghi died at an older age than France’s Jeanne Calman, who is considered the oldest confirmed person in history, when she died at the age of 122 in 1997.
In Iran, the state began issuing family registers in 1918, 20 years after Torogi’s supposed birth.
Local media had reported in 2020 the death of an Iranian Kurd at the age of 138 according to his identity documents.
According to Guinness World Recordsthe oldest person alive is currently Spain’s Maria Branias Morera, who will celebrate her 117th birthday on March 4.
