The UN is investigating 58 North Korean cyberattacks on cryptocurrency-related companies.

The UN is investigating nearly 60 cyber attacks of North Korea in cryptocurrency-related companies. Pyongyang allegedly then used the stolen money to develop its nuclear program.
“The committee is investigating 58 suspected DPRK cyber attacks (DPRK) in cryptocurrency-related companies between 2017 and 2023, worth around $3 billion, reportedly helping finance growth of the DPRK’s weapons of mass destruction»according to the Agency’s observers.
North Korean hacker groups have reportedly carried out a large number of cyber attacks, said sanctions monitors in the Asian country. The hackers belong to the General Intelligence Bureau of the DPRK.
North Korea’s UN mission in New York did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the UN observers’ report. Pyongyang has previously denied allegations of hacking or other cyber attacks.
The UN report was due to be released this month or early nextdiplomats said.
