Drone attacks continue in Kharkiv
Seven people were killed, including three children. early today in strikes with Russian drones at a gas station in Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine, as announced by the governor of the region Oleh Sinekhubov.
“Unfortunately, the toll of the occupier’s attacks in Kharkiv rose to seven” deaths, Sinekhubov said on the Telegram social networking platform. “Among them are three children: a 7-year-old, a 4-year-old and a baby of about six months,” he added.
The Iranian-made Shahed drones “hit a gas station resulting in a leak of flammable fuel, which caused a fire in 14 houses,” the city’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, said, adding that the fire had spread over a large area, with authorities ordering about 50 residents to evacuate.
“Three drones hit the Nemysliyansky district in Kharkiv. Sensitive infrastructure was destroyed,” Kharkiv District Prosecutor Oleksandr Filatskov said, referring to the gas station. “A huge amount of fuel” leaked out, which “explains why the fire was so scary,” he said.
“At 06:00 in the morning, the battle with flames continued, 14 houses were destroyed,” Kharkiv police chief Volodymyr Timochko was quoted as saying by the Suspilne newspaper.
