Residents woke up Monday morning to lightning, thunder and torrential rain. In fact, in some areas there was even hail.

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a red and yellow alert to warn of more rain until 6pm. It is an unsettled period caused as a result of a cold air mass and westerly currents with varying amounts of cloud flowing over the country from the West, according to the NCM.

“As a result of the gradual deepening of the upper air cavity, the amount of clouds is increasing in separate areas,” the forecast added.

Due to the bad weather the Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates had already announced remote working and remote classes in schools.
